Transylvania County Jail Roster
The official Transylvania County inmate search is the Citizen Connect Inmate Confinements roster hosted by Southern Software. It is linked from the county sheriff page and from the Transylvania County Sheriff's Office inmate-search route. The current roster is free to browse and does not require a login for public current-confinement access, although the portal may show CAPTCHA or access-restriction steps after repeated requests.
The roster is broader than a last-name search form. It opens with current confinements, recent admits, charge search, and arresting-agency filters. Current cards can include people arrested by the Transylvania County Sheriff's Office, Brevard Police, state agencies, neighboring agencies, and the U.S. Marshals Service. That matters because a person physically held at the Transylvania County Detention Center can have a federal hold or outside-agency label while still appearing on the local jail roster.
The roster does not replace every other inmate-record system. NCDAC states that its records do not include local county jail detainees, but it is the right source after a person is sentenced to state prison or supervised by the state. BOP covers federal sentenced inmates from 1982 forward, and ICE ODLS covers immigration detention. VINELink, also called NC SAVAN, supports custody-status notifications across county jail, state prison, probation, parole, and sex-offender records.
Use Transylvania County Inmate Search
Start with enough identifying information to avoid mixing people with similar names. A full name, date of birth, booking date, arresting agency, or charge phrase helps. The current roster count changes as bookings and releases occur, so a person arrested very recently may not appear until jail data has been entered and published by Citizen Connect. If the search fails after a recent arrest, call the Transylvania County Detention Center at 828-884-3147.
- Open the official Citizen Connect Inmate Confinements page for Transylvania County.
- Use Current Confinements for people believed to be in jail now.
- Use Admits by Date Range for a recent booking, keeping the public warning about date-range limits in mind.
- Search by charge if the charge wording is known, or use Arresting Agency for agencies such as TRANSYLVANIA, BREVARD, NC Highway Patrol, or U.S. Marshals.
- Read the result card for booking date, arresting agency, charges, bond, and photo status.
- Use NCDAC, BOP, ICE, or VINELink if the person is no longer in the local jail system.
The captured Transylvania County Inmate Confinements roster shows the public tabs and filters used for the jail search.
Those tabs are the main reason the Transylvania County jail roster can be searched by date range, charge, and agency rather than only by name.
Transylvania County Roster Fields
The public roster has multiple lookup paths. The current-confinements button loads everyone currently published. Recent-admit tools help when the person was just booked. Charge and arresting-agency filters help when a name is uncertain or when a reader is tracking an agency hold. The arresting-agency dropdown is unusually detailed for a small county and includes local, regional, state, NCDAC, and federal agency codes.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Current Confinements | Tab/button | No | Loads all current jail confinements through the public roster. |
| Get Last 24 Hour Admits | Button | No | Shows admissions from the last day when available. |
| Get Last 7 Days Admits | Button | No | Shows recent admissions across the last week. |
| Admits by Date Range | Tab | No | Opens custom start and end date fields. |
| Start date / End date | Date field | Conditional | Displayed in MM/DD/YYYY format; public warning says to limit the range to 31 days or less. |
| Charge | Text | No | Searches by charge keyword such as the portal example DUI. |
| Arresting Agency | Dropdown | No | Includes TRANSYLVANIA, BREVARD, NC Highway Patrol, NCDAC, U.S. Marshals, and many other agency codes. |
Transylvania County Inmate Profile
A jail roster card is a booking and custody snapshot. It is not a full criminal-history file, and it is not the final court record. The inspected Citizen Connect cards showed enough information to identify the booking and route the next question, but they did not show home address, medical notes, property records, court date, housing pod, or final disposition. For court case numbers, hearings, and dispositions after charges are filed, use the North Carolina eCourts Portal or the Transylvania County Clerk of Superior Court.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Full public roster name in the card heading. |
| Mugshot | Booking photo when enabled, or a no-photo fallback image. |
| Demographics | Age, race code, and sex code. |
| Date of Birth | DOB in MM/DD/YYYY format. |
| Booked | Jail booking date, which may differ from arrest date. |
| Arresting Agency | The arresting or holding agency and its code. |
| Arrest Date/Time | The arrest date and time when stored in the roster card. |
| Charges | Numbered booking charges or holds entered at jail intake. |
| Bond Total | Aggregate bond amount when the card includes one. |
| Full Details | A bookingdetails link tied to the BookingID. |
Transylvania County Booking Process
Local official pages do not publish a detailed booking manual, so the safest description comes from the roster fields and North Carolina court process. A person may be arrested by the sheriff's office, Brevard Police, a state agency, another county, or a federal agency, then taken to the Transylvania County Detention Center for identification, search, property intake, medical screening, photo, fingerprinting, and entry into the jail management system. The public record appears after the jail's data is entered and published through Citizen Connect.
The roster separates booked date from arrest date or time, which is important for old warrants, indictments, out-of-county holds, and federal detainees. A card can show a later booking date even when the arrest event, warrant, or indictment started earlier. The booking charge is also not the final court charge. Prosecutors, judges, and grand juries can amend, dismiss, reduce, indict, or supersede what first appears on the jail roster.
- Booking
- The jail intake event after arrest or transfer.
- Detainer
- A hold from another agency that may prevent release even if local bond is met.
- Secured bond
- A bond that requires cash, security, or a bondsman before release.
- True bill
- A grand jury indictment returned in a criminal case.
County State Federal Inmates
Transylvania County inmate records split by custody level. The local jail roster covers people physically held at the Transylvania County Detention Center, including adult pretrial detainees, local sentences, holds, and some U.S. Marshals detainees. The state prison locator covers people serving a North Carolina sentence or under state supervision. Federal and immigration searches use federal systems even when a local arrest started the case.
| Custody Type | Where to Search | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
| County jail | Citizen Connect roster | Current local custody, recent admits, booking charges, bond, and arresting agency. |
| State prison or supervision | NCDAC Offender Public Information Search | State prisoners, probationers, parolees, and historical NCDAC information back to 1972. |
| Victim notification | NC SAVAN / VINELink | Custody-status alerts by phone, email, text, or TTY. |
| Federal sentenced custody | BOP Inmate Locator | Federal inmates from 1982 to present. |
| Immigration detention | ICE ODLS | Immigration detainee location when searchable through ICE. |
Transylvania County Jail Facility
Transylvania County has one local detention facility in the research map: the Transylvania County Detention Center. It is operated by the Transylvania County Sheriff's Office and serves as the county jail for adult local confinement. No NCDAC prison, BOP prison, or dedicated ICE detention center was located inside Transylvania County, so state, federal, and immigration custody searches use statewide or federal locators rather than another local facility page.

Transylvania County Visit Rules
Official county and sheriff materials did not publish a full public visitation schedule, dress code, child-visitor rule, mail rule sheet, or fee table in the research file. That gap should be treated as a real fact, not filled with a generic jail schedule. The supported local instruction is to call the detention center before traveling, scheduling a visit, sending books, sending money, or relying on any vendor information.
| Topic | Officially Located Detail | Practical Handling |
|---|---|---|
| In-person visits | No public county schedule found | Call 828-884-3147 before traveling. |
| Remote/video visits | No official public vendor schedule found | Ask the jail whether remote visits are available and how to schedule. |
| Visitor ID | No local rule sheet found | Bring government photo ID and confirm eligibility rules. |
| Facility address confirmed | Use inmate full name only after the jail confirms the address format. | |
| Commissary | County minutes mention Kimble's Commissary and inmate communication training | Call for current deposit methods, limits, and fees. |
Transylvania County Records Requests
When the public roster does not show the needed inmate record, use the office that owns the record. Local booking and custody records belong with the sheriff or detention center. Court charges, hearings, dispositions, and returned warrants belong with the Judicial Branch and the clerk. State prison records belong with NCDAC, which explicitly says it does not maintain local, county, or city jail records.
North Carolina's public-records law allows inspection and copying of public records, but N.C.G.S. 132-1.4 excludes criminal-investigation and criminal-intelligence records from public-record status. That means a booking card or arrest information may be public while full reports, confidential identifiers, medical details, and investigative files may be withheld. For a recent release, property, medication, bond, or transport question, call the detention center rather than relying only on an online card.
Note: Confirm custody status with the jail before visiting, posting bond, sending money, or relying on a newly changed roster entry.
Transylvania Sheriff App
The official Transylvania County Sheriff app is a public-safety and communication channel tied to the sheriff's OCV website. Apple lists County of Transylvania as developer and seller, and Google Play lists Transylvania County Sheriff's Office. The app descriptions say residents can report crimes, submit tips, use interactive features, and receive public safety news and information. Both stores warn that the app is not for emergencies and that users should call 911 in an emergency.
The research did not confirm an app-only inmate roster, warrant search, or booking-photo search. Link the app as an official sheriff communication channel, not as a substitute for the Citizen Connect jail roster. The public roster, jail information line, in-person jail counter, records request process, NCDAC, VINELink, BOP, and ICE remain the custody channels documented for Transylvania County inmate records.
